Basketball

Being a part of the basketball team gave me a sense of community! Since I have cerebral palsy, it was a little tough for me to make close friends in a large high school like Station Camp. One Saturday morning, I was watching College GameDay on ESPN and saw a story about two managers at Villanova University who have cerebral palsy. I emailed the link to the story to Station Camp’s head coach, Seth Massey. After talking to him, Coach Massey agreed to let me be a basketball manager. Over the three years, I formed many close friendships with not only my teammates and fellow managers, but also with parents and grandparents. The team always became closer to one another when we would have out of town Christmas tournaments. I loved those tournaments, especially to Martin, Tennessee. We went there my sophomore and junior years, and I treasure each moment not only of those tournaments but also of my three years as a member of the Bison Basketball team.
